If your Friday at Tinker Field was built around Prospa EDC Orlando, you will need a new plan. The Leeds-born house duo, Harvey Blumler and Gosha Smith, have dropped out of the festival, where they were due to play a back-to-back set with Josh Baker on Friday, November 6.
Why they stepped back
The pair announced it on Instagram Stories over the weekend. They called it a difficult decision, and said they want time off after a year packed with touring and releases. The set would have opened the three-day festival, which runs November 6 to 8.
It has been a full twelve months for them. Their debut album, Free Your Mind, came out through CircoLoco Records in June, and in August they started their own label, Prophecy.
The toll of a busy year
The workload has taken a physical toll. In July, Harvey Blumler paused live shows for a while because of repeated ear infections and two perforated eardrums. Gosha Smith played the live dates alone while he recovered.
What is still on Friday
There is plenty left to see on opening day, including:
- Mau P
- Chris Lorenzo
- Interplanetary Criminal
- Joshwa
- Mainstage names David Guetta, Alesso and Afrojack
No replacement has been named in the report. Check Insomniac’s official channels for set times and any new acts added to fill the gap.
What it means for fans
A back-to-back set is often the reason people pick one day over another, so this will sting for anyone who planned around it. It is also a reminder of how demanding the touring calendar can be, even at the top of the house scene. With the season winding down, a break should help the duo return to the studio and the stage in better shape.
