Precision minimalism, reawakened
Mark Fell has launched a new imprint—National Centre for Mark Fell Studies—and released Nite Closures, his first electronic EP in years (out October 10, 2025). The five tracks revisit the hyper-detailed rhythmic systems and glassy timbres that defined his Sensate Focus phase, while sounding leaner and more immediate.
Tracklist & context
- “Nite Closures (Extended Dub)”
- “Nite Closures”
- “Large Modulos #3”
- “Auchterhouse (Inversion)”
- “Auchterhouse (Reprise)”
The release follows his recent instrumental suite Psychic Resynthesis. Expect surgical grooves, odd-meter pulses and a focus on psychoacoustic detail over spectacle.
“The EP reads like a study in motion: scalar patterns collapsing into groove.”
Why it matters
Fell’s work sits at the intersection of club systems and sound research. A new label suggests a sustained run of releases and potential collaborations that influence how experimental electronics cross into the dance space.
